Harkins Cine Capri Premiers at Tempe Marketplace
The Valley's second Cine Capri debuted as part of the Tempe Marketplace 16 on Friday, June 29th. The theatre is located at the southwest corner of Loops 101 and 202. The Cine Capri brings a superior movie-going experience to Tempe Marketplace. The original Cine Capri had a long and illustrious history in Phoenix. Built in 1966, the original Cine Capri was an instant hit with moviegoers. In 1977, the Cine Capri had the highest-attended engagement of Star Wars in North America. The original Cine Capri closed its doors in 1998. In 2003, Harkins Theatres resurrected the Cine Capri which was immediately dubbed the place to see Hollywood’s event films. The Cine Capri at Tempe Marketplace boasts a 30’x70’ screen, towering before over 600 stadium-style Ultimate Rocker seats. The sound system brings the movies to life with 30,000 watts of crisp, pristine digital sound via 146 individual speakers. The signature gold waterfall drapes add to the Cine Capri experience, unveiling each performance. “Building a second Cine Capri feels like building a second Disneyland,” said Dan Harkins, Chief Executive Officer and Owner of Harkins Theatres. “It’s a very special movie-going experience, a one-time resurrection of a legendary theater that ruled Phoenix for over 35 years.” Tempe Marketplace is excited to have Cine Capri as a partner to offer our customers this distinctive theatre experience.
