Charity Auction at Tempe Marketplace Set For This Friday
Ever wanted to go on a trip to a World Series Game? How about to the Major League Baseball All-Star Game? Does taking batting practice at Chase Field with 17 of your friends sound like fun? Or, are you looking to add more autographed sports merchandise to your collection?
These are just a few of the items you will have the chance to bid on this Friday when FOX Sports Arizona, the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Muscular Dystrophy Association AND Tempe Marketplace team up for auctions during the television coverage of the Arizona Diamondbacks at Colorado Rockies game that will raise money to help find a cure for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Fans are encouraged to show their support for their home team and participate in the auctions beginning at 5:30 p.m. with the network's “Miller Lite Diamondbacks Live” pre-game show at The District Stage at Tempe Marketplace.
In order to bid in the silent auction, fans must be present at Tempe Marketplace. The on-air auction packages will also be listed at Tempe Marketplace, however, the items included can be bid on only by phone. The bids will be announced throughout the telecast and bidding will conclude at the end of the "Qwest Diamondbacks Live" post-game show. Viewers watching at home can make their bids by calling 1-800-952-5334 or 602-462-3899.
All proceeds will benefit an organization helping find a cure for ALS. Augie’s Quest, a partner of MDA, has raised more than $12 million for ALS research since its launch in 2005.
